eauclaire.TV ?!
What's that?? Well... for the past few weeks (or months???) we've been working on putting together another Eau Claire related website.
Of course you're familiar with Eau Claire Bars - the Blog. And you're also familiar with the pictures and video footage that usually accompany an evening out with "the Blog". Well we decided to initiate eauclaire.TV as the place where we share our videos and pictures. You can now find all of our videos at eauclaire.TV (well as soon as we finish uploading them...)
But what's really exciting is that you can submit your own pictures and video to eauclaire.TV! Just sign up and you'll be able to share your own Eau Claire related pictures and videos. You won't have to worry about your content being lost in the endless pages of Youtube or MyspaceTV. You'll be able to add your content to a site that is made just for the Eau Claire and the Chippewa Valley Area. Not only that, you can also make new friends and use the forums to plan your next event or happening in the Eau Claire area.
Try it yourself right now at http://www.eauclaire.tv!

The Bullpen on Bellinger Street
The Bullpen Sports Bar is located down at 1522 Bellinger Street in Eau Claire, Wisconsin.
This Blog entry is by Joey Z.
Let me set the stage here... I was out and about and one of my good friends called me up and said come to the Bullpen it's my going away party. I had known about this but it slipped my mind so it was a good thing he called. I get there about 8:30 and ordered a Mich Golden Tap, which came in a nice frosted mug. I sat down at the bar, swept away a bunch of peanuts that were all over the floor under me and got everything out took a count of the crowd and started to ask some questions...
The layout of the bar is fair with 3 TVs over the bar and 1 over the front window. There are 2 pool tables and 2 dartboards for recreational activities. The bar is very NASCAR oriented. There are lots of racing memorabilia everywhere. Fantasy Racing is a big thing. Don't really know what all that entails but sounds a lot like your average Fantasy Football leagues.
As the bartender was letting me in on the background of the bar she asked if I need another beer, and instead of using the same glass it was another ice cold mug.
I waited to take an official count till 9pm and came up with 22 men and only 6 women. This is a hefty 3.67 Sausage Factor. The Attractiveness Rating wasn't too high, probably around a 5/10. Here's a good picture of my buddy with the bartender.
Since it was a going away party for my buddy we made sure to get him quite toasted to remember his last night out (or maybe our intent was that he not remember haha) before he had to hop the plane to Florida. Prices weren't that bad if you ask me... a Pitcher runs $5.00, 8oz tappers $0.75, Mugs $1.50 and Shots with Red Bull only $3.50...
As the night went on we had some fun playing dice, the bartender even stepped in a couple of rounds... As everyone knows at some point in time you need to take a break and go the restroom.
To be honest with you I wasn't really impressed with the restroom at all... The urinal is mounted way to high on the wall and it isn't one of them full length ones so if you are a shorter person you can't really use it. The toilet stall didn't have a door on it either but for a lot of people that isn't really a concern I guess...
We ended up leaving at 10:20 to go to another establishment. When we left there were 23 men and only 4 women bringing the Sausage Factor up to a 5.75. The Attractiveness Rating was roughly the same at 5/10.
All in all I would give the place a Beer Rating of 3/5 Beers. It's a nice place to relax and enjoy a few beers while talking about NASCAR and shoot some pool, but the Sausage Factor was high and the restrooms were slightly lacking.
Beer Rating: 3/5
Sausage Factor: 4.71
Attractiveness Rating: 5/10
The Verve Pipe and Polydream at The Stones Throw
We were very impressed with Polydream's great sound and strong vocals. Polydream's myspace page claims a sound similar to the likes of Oasis, Foo Fighters, U2, and others. We think they may have been influenced by bands like those, but they have definitely been able to develop their own sound. They seem to be able to put their own feelings into their music to reach an effect that is awesome to listen to. Great sound guys and great music!
Polydream started the evening out and here are a few clips of what they have to offer:
The Verve Pipe hit the stage at around 11pm and livened up the place with a lengthy set of music including their hit song "The Freshmen":
We'll be posting more footage from this evening soon so stay tuned!

Drowning Pool, Adema, No Loving Place, Orestus
We tried to show up early this evening, but were delayed enroute and found a huge line when we arrived. By the time we were able to get ourselves situated upstairs on the mezzanine at around 8pm the place was already totally packed. Tonight's show would definitely be standing room only!
In between sets we were able to speak with some of the guys that head up the Northwoods Rock Rally. These guys were having a great time and some of the girls we spoke to mentioned that the party bus drinking activities started as early as 1pm for most of those on the bus! Wow! The next time there's an activity like this in the Chippewa Valley Area you might want to check out the Northwoods Rock Rally Party Bus!
Band Notes:
Orestus led the night off with some hardcore rock - we got there as their set was winding down and had just enough time to enjoy a beer as they finished up.
No Loving Place was able to put in an extended set since Adema's bus was having Wisconsin weather issues. The crowd thoroughly enjoyed the extra music NLP was able to throw at it.
Despite having some weather issues with the bus, Adema was able to come in out of the cold and rock some new music off their latest album "Kill the Headlights".
Drowning Pool finished the night out with some "Old School Drowning Pool" as lead singer Ryan McCombs would call it. A tribute to the soldiers fighting in Iraq as well as those that have already come home or have served in the past - these hard-hitting, fist-raising rock songs would fill The Stones Throw with a fever and angst that drove out the cold and created a sweat on everyone in the place!
Hats off to the guys down at The Stones Throw for putting together another excellent evening of hard rocking music with some national headlining bands. Great job guys!
