2008 Decadent Cabaret - Video Footage

Spring Break and midterms have kept us busy just like the rest of you I'm sure, but it's time to take a break and post the music from this year's Decadent Cabaret. From 6pm right up until bar close we were able to listen to 11 great bands all for just a $5 cover. What a great night of loud and local music for Eau Claire, Wisconsin.

First up we were able to begin with some jazz from Adrian Klenz and the Sextet. Later in this footage they delve into their own rendition of "Georgia", written by Stuart Gorrell and Hoagy Carmichael. Most will remember this song as sung by Ray Charles.

Next up was the hardcore metal trio known as Purge the Woods. These guys were great, the guitar work was excellent. They don't have a bass guitarist, but I'm not sure whether it would make their sound better or not. In the meantime they are fairing very well with the current makeup!

The music then turned a little more mellow with some CCR as performed by Meridene. Meridene have described themselves on their myspace page as Indie/Powerpop/Rock.

Next up is the sound of The Daredevil Cristopher Wright. Their myspace page has more information for the curious listener.

I, Torrent would then hit the stage with some hard rockin' music.

Next up we have The Shorn.

Left of the Dial with some great music. The second video is their rendition of "I'll Be You" by the Replacements.

Then we would have the local rockstars of The Jaggernauts covering another local band the Drunk Drivers with some of their old Venison music.

Then out of nowhere come the antics of the diaper-wearing metal band Mors Mortis Machinatio. Possibly the best in costume for the evening hahaha!

To close out the show we have the experimental hip hop rock sounds of Orestus with their rendition of Rod Stewart's "Da' Ya' think I'm sexy?."

Pictures to be posted as time becomes available. Right now it's time to enjoy more of Spring Break!

Willow's Body Suspension Showcase at The Stones Throw

A while back on Friday February 29th, 2008 at The Stones Throw in downtown Eau Claire, we made the trip out to see Willow and others from Midwest Tattoo and Body Piercing throw together a Body Suspension Show. There was definitely a lot of energy in the place this evening as everyone anticipated what was going to be happening this evening. Promises of a "Man on Fire" also crept through the crowd.

Here is some of the artwork that was on display for the evening:

And then there was Willow with his Body Suspension Showcase. As you can see in the videos he did both an inverted knee or "Falkner" suspension where four hooks are placed on either side of each knee, and a vertical back or "Suicide" suspension where hooks were placed in his upper back.

And let's not forget the "Man on Fire" that we were promised!

This was definitely an interesting and exhilarating experience for most and the crowd filled up the main floor very quickly once the show was under way. Great job to Willow and Mike from Midwest Tattoo and Body Piercing on your 2008 Suspension Showcase!

You can find out more information about Willow over at the Midwest Tattoo's MySpace page!
