Girls Gone Wild @ The Pickle

Last Friday night was a blast! Eau Claire Bars - the Blog has exclusive pictures from the Girls Gone Wild pit stop at The Pickle on Water Street in Eau Claire, Wisconsin. Many, many people made it down to The Pickle for the fun and festivities. I'm sure a lot of you have heard about it on the news or read about it in the Leader Telegram. From what we could gather this trip into Eau Claire wasn't really planned and circumstances fell together spur of the moment, but once word spread people starting coming out of the woodwork! Everyone knows that it isn't rare to hit capacity anyway at The Pickle and this was another one of those occasions.

The crowd was very festive for the duration of the evening. Lots of people dancing and singing along to the music spun by resident DJ and "Best Dancer in Eau Claire" Cory Shay.

Now to the pictures, because we've already noticed hundreds of visitors scanning the blog in the past couple days... Time to show you what you've been waiting to see!

Of course not everyone was happy to see the Girls Gone Wild Tour Bus in town. There were some protesters out and about as well. But, just like owner Jed Hart described the night was going to be, we didn't witness any nudity and it turned out to be just another enjoyable evening for all.

Here are a couple video clips of the evening for your viewing pleasure.

Coming Up!

Now doubt, some of you have been wondering what's been in the works here at Eau Claire Bars - the Blog. We've received emails requesting footage from the Championships for the Mixed Martial Arts and Iron Man Kickboxing Matches at Whiskey Dicks from a couple weeks back. That footage is now processed and will be posted to the blog tomorrow. We also have some great karaoke footage from our evening at the Court 'N House last Thursday. That karaoke night was probably the most active karaoke I've ever seen!

In addition to the videos we've been processing, we've also been setting up our Halloween Costume Contest. Make sure you get your best costume out and take some pictures! Just email them to us at bars at eauclairenetwork dot com and we'll add them to the list of contestants. So! Watch for some fights and karaoke to hit the blog as early as tomorrow!

Eau Claire Bars - the Blog has a Myspace Page

Well it was probably about time, but we finally put together a Myspace page for the blog. We will be using the Myspace page to let people know where we will be attending festivities from time to time. It will also be used as a method of communication for our various contests and other miscellaneous events in the months to come. Our username for the Myspace page is "eauclairebars". You can search for us using that name or just go straight to http://www.myspace.com/eauclairebars. I've also included a link that is located on the sidebar to the right side of the blog.

Our new Myspace page is another example of something many of our readers have been commenting on in weeks past. This is another great idea and we felt it was time to get on board. Most of the ideas we go forward with come from those of you that read the blog and contact us. Keep it up!

Add us to your friend list!

Two Waters

It was nearing the end of our Lake Hallie excursion and we decided to try to find out where Two Waters bar is located. We had heard about this bar from some fine ladies way back during our coverage of The Carp's Carp Calendar Cutie Contest at "The Buck" in Menomonie, Wisconsin. We knew that it was somewhere in the Lake Hallie area and so we ask for directions at the VFW on Starr Avenue. After much confusion and some hand-written directions we finally wound our way through the back roads of Lake Hallie until we ended up at 2940 109th Street just on the outskirts of Chippewa Falls, Wisconsin. Had it been during the daylight hours I'm certain it would have been easier, but at midnight it's definitely not so easy.

We arrived fairly late in the evening so we'll reserve the actual Beer Rating and review for a later date. For now here is a bit of information about the place.

Two Waters has both a pool table and a foosball table for your gaming pleasure. They also have 4 TVs for watching your very sports teams or other shows while throwing back a few beers. A corner area of the bar is set aside for their Karaoke Machine and that area is also home to live bands every Friday night.

A lot of you may already know this, but for those that don't Two Waters is the end-point for FATFAR. FATFAR stands for Frenchtown Annual Tubing Float and Regalia which is an annual river tubing event in the Chippewa Valley. The view of the river from Two Waters is great you should check it out!

VFW on Starr Ave

After our stop at Hobbsy & Me, we pressed on to the VFW at 1300 Starr Avenue for more of the Hallie area bar scene. Many of you already know about the history of VFW or Veterans of Foreign Wars, for those of you that don't you can follow this link for more information.

When we arrived we noticed they have 5 TVs playing sports as well as some war movies. There are 5 video machines in a hall area near the restrooms. The restrooms are very expansive with nice handicap access and are clean and stocked.

As far as the numbers go, at midnight we found there to be 7 guys and 2 girls and an Attractiveness Rating of around a 6/10. Our bartender Kasie was great and seemed very comfortable with the atmosphere here at the VFW.

The greatest part about our short stay at the VFW was the price of our beer. We paid $1.25 for a mug of Leinie's Oktoberfest. Very nice price for tap beer in the Eau Claire area! It was because of these great prices that we decided upon a 4/5 Beer Rating this evening, the Sausage Factor and Attractiveness Rating might call for something closer to a 3/5 but you just can't beat these prices!

Beer Rating: 4/5
Sausage Factor: 3.5

Attractiveness Rating: 6/10

Hobbsy & Me

Back in September, oh so long ago haha... we took a trip out to the Hallie area to drop by a few of the bars on the outskirts of Eau Claire. The first stop on this trip happened to be "Hobbsy & Me" located at 3620 Locust Lane.

Hobbsy & Me isn't a very large bar, but does have 2 pool tables, 2 video game machines, 2 arcade games, 1 pinball machine, 1 dart board, and a jukebox. There are two TVs for your viewing pleasure which were tuned into the Brewers game this evening. Tap beer is served in refrigerated mugs and are fairly inexpensive, it costs us $3.75 for the two we ordered up upon arrival. Brews are priced right here at Hobbsy & Me so you may want to drop by during their Happy Hour for another $.50 off all drinks from 3-6pm Monday through Friday.

Attendance was somewhat small when we took our 10pm reading with 7 guys and 3 girls. The Attractiveness Rating was an 8/10. Not too bad for being on the outskirts of Eau Claire in addition to it being a Thursday night. While conversing with the bartender and a few of the patrons we learned about a new shot called the "ankle shot". Apparently you can have this shot anywhere, but they prefer you to try one at Hobbsy & Me. All you need to do is drop your shorts to your ankles while taking the shot of your choice. Sounds like a good shot!

The prices are good at Hobbsy & Me and while there weren't too many in attendance, they did look good. The layout is basic and the restrooms are clean and stocked. Definitely a nice stop for some conversation and drinks.

Beer Rating: 4/5
Sausage Factor: 2.33

Attractiveness Rating: 8/10

Site Update

Thanks for all of the input on Eau Claire Bars - the Blog. Today we implemented one of the requested changes to the blog. The sidebar links to each bar will now bring you directly to the latest review of said bar. Instead of searching around for the bar review of a bar that you are interested in heading to, you can now click on the bar's name to be brought right to the review!

Stay tuned for more updates and changes as we review the feedback we have received from those of you out there interested in the Eau Claire night life. If there's something you would like to see us implement here at EauClaireBars.com please feel free to drop an email to us at bars at eauclairenetwork.com and we'll check it out.

Friday Night Fights - Recent Footage

Ok! Finally after much time spent cutting hours of video footage we are ready to start throwing some of the highlights from the Friday Night Fights Under the Lights Semi-Final matches that took place on Friday, September 14. We will also be throwing up footage from last weekend's Grand Championship matches.

Because there is sooo much footage we realized that we wouldn't be able to stream all of the matches in their entirety on the site, but don't worry because we did throw together some fine DVDs of the action. You can pick up these DVDs at Whiskey Dicks for $10/each. There are three separate DVDs for each night of fights. DVD quality video is much better than what is able to be streamed here on the blog, so pick up your copy with your fighter(s) displaying his or her prowess in the ring. Fight footage brought to you courtesy of those of us here at Eau Claire Bars - the Blog.

Let's start by posting this placeholder for these highlights. Stay tuned as they are uploaded to the web and streamed right here at the blog. Check back as the day goes by to see more action. And don't be worried if you can't see the video clips right away! This is our placeholder post for all of these clips.
